The White Texas Nipple Cactus, also known as Mammillaria prolifera, is a delightful and low-growing cactus that forms clusters of soft, cylindrical stems covered in white spines. This cactus is slow-growing, but will eventually produce clusters of cream to pinkish-yellow blooms that add a lovely pop of color to its green stems.
Perfect for small containers or rock gardens, the compact shape of the White Texas Nipple Cactus makes it a great choice for those with limited space. It thrives in a very porous, well-draining cactus mix soil and should be placed in a spot with lots of bright light. If planted outside, it prefers bright sun, filtered sun, or afternoon shade, while indoor plants will need plenty of bright light and some direct sun.
When it comes to watering, the White Texas Nipple Cactus should be watered regularly but sparingly to avoid overwatering. Native to the Caribbean and parts of the Americas, this cactus has a variety of common names including Grape Cactus, Pincushion Cactus, and Little Candles.
