A rare South African native, commonly called “Staghorn Ice Plant”, this is a wonderful collector’s plant seldom seen for sale. A neat, handsome succulent shrublet, it features distinctively odd, blue-green staghorn-shaped leaves that are fused into pairs at the base. It has smooth succulent stems that become woody over time, and blooms with large, pretty purple, pink and yellow flowers. Low-growing, it reaches around 40cm in height. The only species in the genus Smicrostigma, it is regarded as having great horticultural potential.

Perfect for well-drained rockeries and waterwise gardens, and also suitable for containers where it will happily share space with companion plants. In hanging planters, it will grow to spill over the edges. Grows well in cactus mix that is kept lightly moist, and placed in full sun where the blue-green colour is most intense.
