Echeverias are some of the most colourful and gorgeous succulent plants available, and hail from South America. This sub-shrub, known as “Solitary Painted Lady”, is a selected variety of Echeveria nodulosa and has the same surreal look as other nodulosa varieties. A stem-forming species which begins as a rosette but eventually develops a branching stem, it will grow quite large. Its thick succulent leaves are olive green but feature stunning red lines and dark purple undertones. The Maruba Benitsukasa variety flushes with glowing burgundy which becomes more intense in more light, becoming completely purple-red in full sun. The plant is topped with red, bell-shaped flowers with yellow tips in summer.

This Echeveria looks fabulous in containers and mass plantings. Low maintenance, it only needs a sunny spot and minimal water, and the removal of dead leaves at the base.
