Native to the south-western Cape of South Africa, this succulent groundcover is cultivated as an ornamental for its gorgeous blue-grey foliage and bright purple, almond-scented flowers. It is low and compact-growing, smothering the ground with colourful rounded or sprawling shrublets of about 40cm tall. A low-maintenance perennial with many sturdy branches of shiny, reddish stems often tinged purple.

Makes an excellent drought-tolerant groundcover for coastal gardens or cascading over rocky edges of flowerbeds. Plant in full sun in almost any soil type, provide regular watering. Common names include: Pink Ice Plant, Deltoid-leaved Dew Plant, Toothleaf Rock Vygie. Attracts butterflies.
