The Pineapple Dyckia, also known as the Mini Agave or Sawblade, is a beautiful succulent that adds a unique touch to any garden or indoor setting. Its botanical name is Dyckia brevifolia, and it is native to Brazil where it thrives in a range of climates. This succulent typically blooms in the warmer months, producing stunning orange-yellow bell-shaped flowers that bloom on a tall flower spike.

One interesting feature of the Dyckia variety is that they are both succulents and terrestrial epiphytes, which means that they can grow without soil and even attach to the branches of trees. To grow Pineapple Dyckia in a pot, use a rocky substrate such as quincan, river rocks or sand with a large drainage hole and no saucer, or tie it in place on a tree or fence until its roots attach securely. This variety prefers full sun and well-draining soil, and is susceptible to root rot if left in standing water.

The Pineapple Dyckia has deep green leaves with remarkable grey bands of powdery scales that form on the undersides. It grows up to 20cm high and wide, making it a great addition to smaller gardens or indoor spaces. To care for your Pineapple Dyckia, make sure it is located in a sunny spot and allow the soil to completely dry out between deep watering.
