The “Ostrich Neck” Euphorbia is an erect, columnar spineless succulent which features a loose spiral arrangement of red-purple tubercles that are topped with stunning turquoise coloured hairy leaves. Reaching half a metre tall and less than 20cm wide, its stems are usually green but can change hue to become reddish in winter.

Euphorbia succulents are easy to grow and suited to any well drained soil in full sun to light shade. They need little maintenance beyond occasional watering, though older plants might need support to stay upright. A lovely, easy growing landscape plant, but younger plants are also happy growing indoors. Note that all Euphorbias have a toxic sap and must handled with care. Native to the southern Cape area of South Africa.

NOTE: Euphorbia’s are for ornamental purposes only. The milky sap can be toxic and can cause adverse reactions if it comes into contact with the skin or eyes. Do not ingest. Euphorbias do not typically require pruning or maintenance, but take care when handling.
