Native to South Africa, this spreading succulent is a popular ornamental due to its appealing cylindrical grey-green foliage. A finely textured, medium height groundcover which quickly forms a dense mat, its leaves grow in a dense, orderly manner and the slender, slightly upward facing leaves appear like fingers or long pieces of blue chalk, hence the common name Narrow-Leaf Chalksticks.

Growing around 60cm tall and 150cm wide, with trailing stems and small showy, creamy-white flowers, it provides magnificent form and contrast in the landscape and is perfect as a filler in containers or beds. Also adaptable as a houseplant, however. Prefers sun or light shade, occasional watering and a sandy, dry, well-draining soil.
