This exotic oddball is part of the group of succulents native to South Africa referred to as medusoid euphorbias. It features a central conical or cylindrical caudex, many tentacle-like branches (hence the common name Medusa’s Head) and soft, narrow, deep green stems with very long leaves and bearing yellow-green flower clusters. A cushion-forming succulent, it creates a mass up to 15cm tall and spreading 30cm wide, or roughly the size of a human (or Medusa’) head.

An arresting houseplant, it tolerates a range of light and sun conditions, provided it has well-drained soil. Makes a wonderful low maintenance container plant, thriving under direct sun (needing at least six hours per day). Water regularly.

NOTE: Euphorbia’s are for ornamental purposes only. The milky sap can be toxic and can cause adverse reactions if it comes into contact with the skin or eyes. Do not ingest. Euphorbias do not typically require pruning or maintenance, but take care when handling.
