This very attractive, dwarf species of succulent makes an excellent easy-care potplant. Slow-growing, it bears rounded clusters of greyish-green, very succulent fleshy leaves with a rough, granular texture that form small rosettes which develop multiple pretty, small, bulbous flowers on 20cm stalks in the springtime. It grows to around 10cm tall, and forms dense clumps averaging around 30cm wide.

Ideal for containers placed in a shady position, or grown in rockeries. When grown in especially bright conditions, the foliage can take on brick-red colouring. Drought resistant, Kouga Gasteria is a tough little plant which can survive in many kinds of growing conditions, from deep shade to full sun, and although they typically grow best under bright light, they also grow well in low light, making them superb houseplants. Minimal watering is required. Common names include Kouga Gasteria and Ox Tongue.
