This is an attractive evergreen stonecrop hybrid with Mexican origins. First hybridised in the 1800s by a French botanist, the so-called “Jewelled Crown” or “Powdered Jewel Plant” is a cross between Pachyphytum bracteosum and Echeveria rosea.
Featuring stunning pastel purple and pinkish foliage, and orangey-red flowers, it is highly sought after as it makes an adorable potplant or hanging basket succulent. Leaves are thick, flat and bluish-grey with pink tones, with its stunning hues changing throughout the year.
Bred to be easy care, these plants make great growers even in poor soil provided it is well-drained, whether in the garden or in containers. Watering should be occasional to infrequent. They tolerate high heat and intense sun but don’t appreciate the cold. Will do best in full or partial sunlight.
