An impressive evergreen succulent native to South Africa, this is the largest of the grey leaf Senecios and is able to grown to a height and width of about half a metre. With an upright shape, it has long, stout stems that arch upwards and also snake along the ground, featuring narrow blue-green leaves that are flat on the top and rounded below, each ending in a sharp-looking but soft tip. Commonly called Flat-leaved Senecio, Silver Senecio, Big Blue chalk sticks or Giant Chalk Stick, it is a valuable landscaping succulent which forms a dense, rippling mat. Its flowers are spongy, creamish yellow and heavily scented.
This plant is easy care making it the perfect container or garden plant. It needs little water (moderate to sparing depending on the season) and can be planted in full sun to light shade in a well-draining soil. Will do best in a position with indirect light and low humidity.
