Called Ghost Plant thanks to its pale, opalescent grey-white leaf colour with hints of pink or lavender, this Mexican native has also been commonly known as Mother of Pearl. A small, evergreen succulent forming 10cm wide rosettes out of fleshy, pointed, flat leaves, it has pendent stems which are able to cascade over the edge of containers, making it ideal in hanging baskets or spilling over walls. It also makes a beautiful groundcover featuring delicate sprays of star-shaped yellow flowers. Growing around 60cm tall and 90cm wide, with a rosette trail of up to a metre, it is an excellent potplant but not suitable for indoors due to the trailing habit.

Preferring full sun where it achieves its best colouring, its foliage can change colour, becoming a blue-grey in part shade, or pinkish yellow in hot, dry conditions. Minimal watering is required but grow in sandy, well-draining soil.
