A rare, aloe-like dwarf succulent featuring spiral rosettes varying from 2cm high to half a metre tall. Usually grown for its decorative foliage, it has long, dark green, tongue-like leaves with whitish spots and horny margins, and produces small white, red, pink or orange tubular flowers. The flowers have an elliptical stomach-shape, with stomachs having the Latin name “gaster”, hence the name. A slow-growing succulent, it thrives in cultivation and produces compact shrubs over time.
Native to South Africa, Gasteria plants are tough customers and make excellent beginner plants as they are very easy to care for and hard to kill. Growing well with other succulents, Armstrong loves bright lighting but not scorching summer sun, so provide a part shade position. Will be a pleasing addition to a beautiful miniature display.
