This is an easy to grow tropical perennial succulent native to Brazil. Popular as a foliage plant, it is a fairly erect, slightly arching bushy cactus with unique jointed stems coloured reddish to dark green with notched margins. It features pretty rose-coloured flowers, lending it its alternative common names of Rose Easter Cactus and Pink Star Cactus; it’s also known as Whitsun Cactus,

Easter Cactus and Fairy Cactus. As a tropical plant, it can handle cool temperatures but not extreme cold. It prefers humidity (using a pebble tray can help). In keeping with its native atmosphere, it does not appreciate direct scorching sun, nor drafts. This epiphytic perennial typically grows to around half a metre tall and wide, and is very well suited as a houseplant or in hanging baskets.
