A lovely low-growing dwarf succulent perennial with an unusual growing shape. Rounded and clumping, it takes on a form similar to a piece of turf, with heavily thorned cushions made up of many tiny heads. A beautiful compact species native to South Africa (Natal) and Lesotho, its pretty form is much coveted by collectors. Grows up to 3m high in its natural habitat but in cultivation typically just 30cm high. Short stemmed with white to purple spines depending on the season and with dark-reddish purple flowers.
A pretty easy plant to grow, it thrives in well-draining soil and isn’t fussy about soil quality. Average watering requirements, and needs plenty of light to maintain its compact form.
NOTE: Euphorbia’s are for ornamental purposes only. The milky sap can be toxic and can cause adverse reactions if it comes into contact with the skin or eyes. Do not ingest. Euphorbias do not typically require pruning or maintenance, but take care when handling.
