The Agave desmettiana variegata, commonly known as the Dwarf Century Plant, Smooth Century Plant, or Variegated Smooth Century Plant, is a stunning succulent that reaches a maximum height of only 1 meter. This dwarf species produces offsets or “pups” that allow it to form a small clump of mature plants, which will bloom and provide a magnificent spectacle before dying after about 10 years.

The Dwarf Century Plant features a rosette of light green leaves that grow long and arching, with creamy yellow stripes running along the lengths of the leaves. The green coloration on the agave may vary depending on the amount of sunlight exposure and the season.

Like all agaves, the Dwarf Century Plant will produce long stems from the center of the rosette where a cluster of flowers will bloom. This agave typically produces pale yellow, bell-shaped flowers that add a touch of beauty to the plant’s overall appearance.

Although drought-resistant, the Dwarf Century Plant will grow faster when given more water. It is a low-maintenance plant that thrives in full sun or partial shade and can be grown in pots or in the ground. With its unique beauty and easy care, the Dwarf Century Plant is a perfect addition to any succulent collection or garden.
