The Aura Cactus, also known as the Golden Rat Tail, is a stunning and fast-growing succulent with thick, fleshy columnar stems that are lined with sharp and bristly spines. This branching variety of cactus is native to Bolivia and is known for its magnificent arching branches, which can grow up to 1.5 meters in length and display a beautiful green-gold color.

In addition to its striking appearance, the Aura Cactus also produces bright orange to salmon-pink flowers that open up to about 5cm in width. The outer petals of the flower bend backwards, while the shorter inner petals stand upright next to exerted stamens, creating a spectacular display.

The Aura Cactus is also known for its small, barrel-shaped fruits that ripen to a red-green color. While these fruits are inedible, they add to the overall aesthetic appeal of the plant.

To thrive, the Aura Cactus prefers a humid, tropical environment, which can be replicated in most Australian gardens by allowing the plant to dry out between deep watering and keeping it drier in the winter. This low-maintenance succulent is perfect for hanging baskets or as a statement piece in any indoor or outdoor space.
